President of the Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, expressed his solidarity with Brazilian revolutionary Joao Pedro Stédile, victim of fascist attacks promoted by sectors of the international right.
Stedile, a member of the national coordination of the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (Landless Farm-Workers’ Movement, MST), “was targeted by fascist groups a few weeks ago” when, after arriving at an airport in Brazil, he “was received by a group that attacked him, spitting and shouting that he was a Communist murderer”, said Maduro in his weekly TV communication “In Touch With Maduro”.
In this regard, he said that intolerance and violence are promoted by the Venezuelan right over the border and “it is infectious, so it spread like a disease, to the Brazilian and Latin American right.”
“A powerful movement has uprised in Brazil and Latin America in solidarity with Joao Pedro Stedile and from here, formally and officially on behalf of the Bolivarian Revolution I express our support and solidarity with him and with the Brazilian popular movement against the intolerant extreme right” said President Maduro from the Cuartel de la Montaña (Mountain Barracks), in Caracas.
