The Dawn News / January 5, 2017
The Network of Intellectuals, Artists, and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity want to send our full solidarity to everyone working at Resumen Latinoamericano, against the abuse and looting of equipment and files that took place at its office on the night of December 31 in Buenos Aires. We condemn this attack in the strongest way.
In a world where post-truths comes along boldly imposing a biased interpretation of the world for the interest of capital, news media like Resumen Latinoamericano, who defends and spreads the real truth in the interest of the people, can certainly become the target of dark forces denying humanity real news. One undeniable truth is that as hard as these forces try they will never silence the voice of the people or the brave journalists that accompany them.
Always forward. Venceremos

An Attack on the Alternative Information Work of Resumen Latinoamericano.
They came to our newsroom and took all the video, sound and photography equipment
We wanted to inform all of our, viewers and listeners, that on the night of December 31, we were the target of a robbery or “directional looting” since they came to our newsroom and took our complete inventory of video equipment (two filming and photography cameras – Lumix GH1 and Lumix GH2) that we use for our television program along with microphones, a sound recorder, connection cables, headphones and two still cameras; an analog Nikon and a Canon B60.
In addition, they stole a video projector, which we use in video conferences for our Bolivarian Classes.
Ironically this looting operation was completed without breaking or stirring anything. They went directly to the desired equipment, moving like they were fish in water.
All of those who know and follow our activity know that (2017 marks our 24th anniversary of uninterrupted counter-information work in print, TV and radio) this is a hard blow to us, but as you also can probably guess we won’t be stopped or pushed back. We will replace the valuable equipment we lost as we can. To friends and foes alike we want to be perfectly clear that RESUMEN LATINOAMERICANO will not stop its reporting in these difficult times with our unique honest perspective of the news.
Inspired by the great investigative reporter Rodolfo Walsh and his fight for communicating the truth that the powerful despises we will continue to honor his legacy.

Expansion of the denunciation of Resumen Latinoamericano: It was not robbery, but a raid and appropriation to discipline us
To what we had already reported on the morning of Tuesday Jan 3, about the strange ‘theft’ in our newsroom all our video and sound equipment that took place in the night of December 31 or early in the morning of January 1, where we emphasized the fact that whoever did the work against us did it in a very neat way, without stirred or altered the physiognomy of the place now everything moves to make us think that it was a virtual RAID to seize our working equipment but also information.
This afternoon, we realized that beside all cameras and computers missing, they also seized all our computer external drives, where we kept information used for our newspaper and the result of ten years of archive of TV programs and documentaries we have done. In addition, the “visitors” took several memory cards for the video camera and photography, with material produced in the past few months.
We have denounced all these to the police, to record what this singular “operation” was all about.
It became more clear to us that in this raid they were looking for something more than ‘stealing cameras to sell’, but is rather directed at attempting to remove us from our journalistic work. In addition, as in other similar cases against our colleagues what they are looking for is to discipline us and make us feel fear, so others do not “bother” with their work, articles, videos, audios, of counter-information.
Against this escalation, there is no other way than to redouble our efforts in the defense of journalism without censorship and self-censorship, challenge to these repressive advances with the unity of those who do not want a single speech, or single side, the one of the power and the powerful.
From Resumen Latinoamericano we commit to continue informing, denouncing and collecting the voice of the voiceless.
