Paraguay decrees a police state for indefinite time to prevent protest demonstrations

The Commander of the National Police has declared all of the police personnel in a state of a “100% Security Alert” beginning April 1, 2017. The decision was informed through the memo pictured below.

In anotyher document, the Department of Planification and Operations ordered to provide support in the Patrol Checkpoints since Monday, April 3.

A Chief of Service will be appointed for each checkpoint, with the objective of “checking, controlling and selectively searching people and vehicles in general, with the purpose of confiscating weapons or other elements that may damage the physical integrity of people, in order to protect the safety and tranquility of citizens”.
