Colombia: ELN demands an end to the social leaders assassination in Colombia

Before the assassination of the president of the National Syndicate of Workers from the Agricultural Industry (Sintrainagro), Alberto Román Acosta, repudiation over the murderers of social activist have increased.

 

The National Liberation Army (ELN) demanded past Saturday to the Colombian authorities to guarantee the social justice at the South American country, so that no more murders are committed.

Through the ELN’s official account and with the “peace” tag, the organization demanded the elimination of these practices that have been occurring over the last years in some of Colombia’s zones.

“The murder of social leaders of the social movement must stop”, urged the National Liberation Army.

Past Saturday, the president of the National Syndicate of Workers from the Agricultural Industry (Sintrainagro), Alberto Román Acosta, was murdered at the Guacarí district, in the Valle del Cauca department.

Several organizations have denounced that along 2017 and only at Cauca, eleven social leaders have been victims of homicide.
