With the participation of Venezuelan, Argentinian, Mexican, Guatemalan, Brazilian, Uruguayan, Cuban and Basque journalists, the Journalistic Forum “Venezuela responds” was developed in Caracas. The Forum had as its main theme the offensive on behalf of mediatic terrorism, an ally of the local right, which the Revolutionary Bolivarian process is suffering currently.
The meeting, called by the Republic’s presidency, started on Thursday and it was inaugurated by the Venezuelan writer and journalist Roberto Hernández Montoya, who during the whole encounter acted as a coordinator of the different debates, providing his vision on the current Venezuelan situation. Later, the Chilean journalist and Telesur’s communicator, Jorge Gestoso, intervened. Gestoso realized a presentation on the role the media has today. The three of them pointed out the different alternatives that the communicators have to face to reflect the truth on what happens throughout Latin America, where the imperial speech is trying to generate opinion matrices opposed to the progressive and revolutionary governments of the continent.
The journalist from the Mexican newspaper La Jornada, Carlos Fazio, talked about the necessity to fully approach the narrative battle in Venezuela, which is the title of one of his last articles. Meaning, to take the words that the rightist opposition undermines or uses in its benefit to hide the truth of what is actually happening in Venezuela. He also highlighted the necessity to define what is understood as terrorism, which is what the opposition daily puts in practice on the streets.
Resumen Latinoamericano’s director, Carlos Aznárez, pointed out that what it is happening in Venezuela is an imperial war, which attacks politically, economically and militarily the Bolivarian process. “The terrorism which is being applied here, today, is fascist, because it is trying to break the society through murders and actions against the people. Just as the pro OTAN mercenaries are doing in Syria, they only want to spread fear through terror only to overthrow these governments”. He also made a call to reinforce the communicational solidarity in the constitutive process and to be alert to whatever happens from here to July 30. Camila Rodrigues, from Brasil de Fato, and Larisa Capriglione, also from Brazil, intervened to reinforce the idea of generating communicational networks along the revolution to take weight off the media conspiracy lies that harass Venezuela.
On Friday, Guatemalan journalists intervened and provided their views on how is the situation at their country, and pointed out that the president Jimmy Morales celebrated the release of Leopoldo López and demanded “freedom for for the rest of the political prisoners”, putting in practice a hypocrite behaviour since under his government human rights were not respected.
Later, the constitutional lawyer Jesus Silva, realized an excellent intervention on the strategic value that the Constitutive election to be realized next July 30 has. He also made a summarized report on the last 100 days of aggression against the Venezuelan people on behalf of a desperate and lethal opposition that transformed some zones of the country into a battlefield. To finalize, he characterized the plebiscite convoked by the MUD as an illegal exercise which counts with the support of the international terrorism media.
As of that exposition, an intensive exchange of opinions and proposals on behalf of the attendants began, which ended with the agreement to fortify even more the initiatives that allow to transmit the idea that, besides the fascist violence, the people still bets on peace, and on the day to day, they keep building the context so that everything that was achieved in the last 18 years is not lost and that the path to socialism keeps deepening.
On the afternoon, all the communicators went to Caracas’ Polyhedron where they participated of an act presided by Nicolás Maduro. In this act, 3000 students of the Police Univesity were promoted. Maduro saluted the journalists name by name in the middle of the crowd’s applause.
