Russia has stated that the Constituent election was a clear message of the necessity to a political solution in Venezuela.

“We believe that the elections that took place, evinced the clear sign that there is a imperative necessity of overcoming the crisis that the country is living through political means and dialogue, in the frame of the current legislation, through popular vote and without any foreign interference”, highlighted the Russian Foreign Affair Ministry through a communique.

The Russian chancellery has also convoked to the foreign actors to stop the plans that might aggravate the Venezuelan situation.

The National Constituent Assembly, called by the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, on May 1, in the terms of the article 348 of the Constitution, has as an objective to widen and protect the social rights of the Venezuelan people established on the Magna Carta of 1999, to guarantee peace and dialogue before the opposition’s violence -that left over 100 casualties since past April-, to overcome petroleum dependency and to strengthen the struggle against terrorism.
