“The government has shown little interest to enter into dialogue; yesterday we had a meeting with the post conflict minister and he received our list of demands without arranging any kind of agenda”, denounced Jonatán Centeno of Marcha Patriótica Political and Social Movement from the Cauca department, where thousands of farmers have gathered in the context of the agrarian strike which started on October 23.
According to Centeno, farmers, natives and afro descendants are demanding “the installation of the Dialogue and Agreements Roundtable, the fulfillment of the Havana agreements, with the guarantee of the participation of communities in the matter of illicit crops substitution, and finally, the revision of unfulfilled accords of previous mobilizations”.
In response to the declarations of the Colombian Government regarding the significant progress with the problem of coca crops, Centeno states that “the forced eradication of the crops is causing the murder of many companions, since farmers see cocaine as their sustenance and will not allow the eradication of their crops if they are not offered guarantees that allow them to improve their living conditions”.
“The government hasn’t been able to exercise control in the territory despite all of its investigative and technical capacity”, concluded Jonathan Centeno, replying to the Colombian government’s pronouncement which affirmed that the murders of social leaders is not systemic.

Alexander Gaviria, member of the technical team of the Coccam, explained the motives for the mobilization.
In the context of the Indefinite National Strike Several mobilizations will be held in the capital of Valle.
One of the main motivations for the mobilizations is the rejection towards the assassination of social leaders throughout the country.
On Tuesday, the members of the convoking movements reunited with Rafael Pardo, Post Conflict minister, and presented their demands and worries on the severe threats that endanger peace.

At around 2 am today, subjects entered the installations of CORPEIS (Corporation in favour of Development and Social Investigation) in the locality of Teusaquillo in Bogotá, where the offices of the News Agency Prensa Rural are located. They proceeded to breach the security of the complex and continued to the installations of the agency, where they broke the door and stole work equipment of the journalistic project. The police arrived to the location at around 3 am.
This situation generates concern and unease, and it can be interpreted as an aggression against the freedom of the press, concurring with the beginning of the agrarian strike and with the understanding that Prensa Rural has been a permanent victim of intimidation, accusation and stigmatization.
At the compound, only the space of Prensa Rural was assaulted; it is evident that this was a directed aggression. Equipment and work materials of the journalistic project were stolen.
We make this situation public and demand a quick response in the investigation process, which has already started with the enquiries of the Judicial Police (CTI), who arrived at the location around 4 am.
