Let’s remember the times when we were in school. Children get a lot of new and interesting information, they memorize poems, learn the exact sciences and humanities. Consequently, the brain is in tension.

What happens when the school year ends? Schoolchildren go on vacation, lasting three months. During this time, the brain rests, it gets used to the mode of laziness and inactivity. Then comes September. It’s this month that is the hardest for students, as the brain is weaned off the workload and refuses to get used to it again for a while.

The formation and development of attention and memory is important, regardless of the age of the person. Many retirees mistakenly believe that with the cessation of labor activity it’s no longer necessary. They devote themselves to running their households. But what happens to their lives if their brains stop working?

Old people, whose brain stops developing, begin to forget absolutely everything. They can leave the pot on the stove on, at the store or pharmacy they can’t remember what they wanted to buy.

Types of Memory

The main function of memory is to store information. That is, knowledge that has ever been obtained remains in a person’s head. At any time, they can be used. Some people have less developed short-term memory. They remember perfectly well what happened a couple of decades ago, with all the fine details, but have difficulty recalling what, for example, they heard yesterday on the radio.

Long-term Memory

This is where the accumulation and storage of information that may come in handy at any time of life takes place. For example, we will never forget the name of his mother or best friend at school.

Short-term Memory

This type of memory captures in the head those events that have just happened or will happen in the near future. For example, tomorrow you have an appointment with the doctor, it’s unlikely you will miss an appointment because you forgot about it.

Operating Memory

It’s needed only at a certain moment: here and now. Thanks to it we are able to perform a certain action.

All of these types of memory have a close relationship. They cannot exist without each other by default.

How to Help Develop Memory and Attention

Before we move directly to exercises for the development of memory, let’s answer the question: what to do if you notice that you have problems remembering information?

Concentrate on Something Specific

When you watch TV, listen to music, attend a meeting, try not to be distracted by anything else. At the end of the day, try to remember everything you did, down to the smallest details.

Calm Down

When a person is under stress, their memory deteriorates. This is because the work of the brain at that moment is aimed at suppressing anxiety.

Problems with memory and attention are dealt with by a neurologist. If you notice that your memory has drastically deteriorated, this may indicate the occurrence of some disease. Don’t despair and don’t panic. Modern doctors are quite qualified specialists, they know how to treat such ailments.

Evaluate Your Daily Routine

If the doctor has concluded that there is nothing wrong with your body, you should assess your daily routine and try to get more time for sleep and rest. If your brain is already overloaded, training for memory and attention will only put more strain on it and make the situation worse.
